Law Enforcement Academy Tuition and Costs

Evening Academy Tuition

Special Function and Basic Corrections (Module 1): $2,100 Cost includes the textbook, a non-refundable $200.00 deposit, and $50.00 POST background check fee. Law Enforcement Officer (Module 2): $3,700 Cost includes the textbook, a non-refundable $200.00 deposit. A $50.00 background check fee may be assessed if it has been more than 6 months since a POST background clearance. Required Equipment is an additional cost. See Equipment List for estimated costs.
  • Daytime Academy Tuition

    Combined training (Modules 1 and 2): $5,800 Cost includes the textbook, a non-refundable $200.00 deposit and $50.00 POST background check fee. Required Equipment is an additional cost. See Equipment List for estimated costs.
  • Background Check

    There is a $20.00 finger-print card processing fee involved in completing the Background Clearance Application.  Personal check, cashiers check or money order made payable to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. This will be done once classes have begun.
  • Uniforms and equipment

  • Payment Plan

    WSU’s Law Enforcement Academy offers a 4-payment plan for those cadets who prefer the flexibility of paying over time. There is a $20 fee to sign up for the payment plan. The tuition for the session is divided into 4 equal payments. The first payment is due by 4pm the Friday before classes begin. The other three payments are due monthly from that point.   • Financial Aid

    There is no financial aid or assistance offered through Weber State unless you are taking a minimum number of credit courses and maintain that standard while you attend the academy. Contact us for more information 801-395-3412.
  • GI Bill

      Veterans may use their GI Bill entitlement to pay for the Police Academy depending on individual eligibility. Veterans should begin by applying for benefits. For instructions see, click Starting GI Bill under Getting Started in the left side column. Disregard the Admissions Guide, most of the instructions there do not apply to Academy students.     Utah Department of Workforce Services

      The Utah DWS may provide financial assistance for qualified students. I encourage you to apply to see if you qualify for assistance.
  • Go to and log in or register
  • Under the Home tab look under Advance Your Career and click the Apply for Training Services link
  • Complete the application
  • Within 3 business days a DWS employee will contact you. Be sure to write down this persons name and number.
      To find the DWS Office nearest you go to No one at these locations can tell you if you will qualify for any grant money until you complete the application.
