Law Enforcement: Training Modules

Weber State's Law Enforcement Academy provides a thorough background for those planning a career in criminal justice. The training consists of two training modules that lead to two law enforcement certifications and one correction certification. Academy instructors and trainers are active professionals in the field of criminal justice and police work. Class sizes are limited and early registration is recommended.

Module 1: Special Functions Officer (SFO) and Basic Correction Officer (BCO)

Upon completion of this training you will be qualified for positions such as:

  • Reserve Officer
  • Court Bailiff
  • Auxillary Officer
  • Constable
  • State Prisoner Officer
  • County Jail Officer

College Credit Available: The following college credit is available to cadets who wish to pursue a criminal justice degree.

  • CJ1070, 9 semester hours

Module 2: Law Enforcement Officer (LEO)

Upon completion of this training you will be qualified for positions such as:

  • City Police Officer
  • State Highway Patrol Officer
  • Deputy Sheriff
  • State Law Enforcement Officer

Prerequisite: To be able to register for the LEO, the applicant must have successfully completed all the requirements of the SFO.

College Credit Available: The following college credit is available to cadets who wish to pursue a criminal justice degree.

  • CJ 1080, 9 semester hours

LEO Curriculum
