NPOST Test

National Peace Officer Selection Test (NPOST)

All applicants are required to pass the NPOST exam prior to attending the Law Enforcement Academy. A fee may be assessed and government or state picture identification is necessary. It can take two to three weeks to get the results back so it’s very important to take this test as soon as you can to allow time for a retake if necessary. Scores do not expire. A study guide is available for $5 at the WSU Student Services Testing Center, the Hurst Center on the Ogden Campus or the Testing Center at the Davis Campus. Call 801-626-7564 for more information.   This is an academic test (similar to a high school equivalency exam). It consists of math, reading comprehension, grammar, and an “incident report” writing section. It is a timed test, 20 min per section. You must receive 70% in each of the sections in order to receive a passing score. Scores do not expire. The NPOST can be taken at any of the listed NPOST test locations.

It is recommended that you call ahead as some location limit the test to certain days and/or specific times.
