Continuing with a great tradition of language immersion Study Abroad Programs, we’re proud to offer an amazing Study Abroad opportunity to Osaka, Japan in 2013! While in this program, you’ll study Japanese Language and Culture at Osaka City University while staying with a Japanese host family. You’ll also have the opportunity to experience what Japan has to offer through excursions to local landmarks and museums, historical sites, and other Japanese cities. This will be the ultimate Japanese language and culture experience!

For participating in this Japanese Study Abroad, you will receive 6 credit hours from the following:
- Japanese 1851 – Study Abroad (3)
- Japanese 1852 – Study Abroad (3)
- Japanese HU 2851 – Study Abroad (3)
- Japanese 2852 – Study Abroad (3)
- Japanese 3850 – Study Abroad (1-6)
- Japanese 3570 – Special Topics in Culture (3)
- Japanese 3320 – Applied Language Studies (1-3)
Faculty
| Lisa Hiroko Lay | Lisa Hiroko Lay, an instructor of Japanese at WSU, will be leading this study abroad program and will teach the courses alongside two professors from Osaka City University. Lisa is originally from Osaka/Kobe, Japan, and Japanese is her native tongue. She will be a great resource to students on this program. |
Itinerary
May 7: Leave Salt Lake City
May 8: Arrive in Osaka, Japan
May 8 – 27: Japanese language courses at Osaka City University and excursions.
May 28: Return home
Details
The tentative cost of the program will include:

The cost does not include your passport, a Visa, if required, incidentals, any unscheduled travel, and excess baggage cost.
This program is open to all WSU students, faculty, and staff, as well as students from other universities; however preference will be given to WSU students. Students must be at least 18 years old for this program. People in reasonably good health should have little concern for any physical demands. All participants must have a valid passport.
Payment Schedule
$450 deposit due November 15, 2013
$500 payment due December 15, 2013
$500 payment due January 15, 2014
$500 payment due February 15, 2014
Remainder due no later than March 15, 2014

The Fine Print
If the trip is cancelled, all participants will be refunded in full. Any refunds for withdrawal from the program will be determined by the Study Abroad Director according to the recoverability of incurred costs and fees, and according to Continuing Education Policy. Once the group leaves, all costs are non-refundable in their entirety. Dates and prices may change. It is the responsibility of each participant to be aware of any changes by staying in contact with Study Abroad and the program director.
