There’s no better way to understand the workings and missions of Correctional Emergency Response Teams (CERT) than to experience them first-hand at the Mock Prison Riot. While on this travel study program, you’ll travel to West Virginia to participate in the Mock Prison Riot as a mock prisoner, helping these teams train for real life situations. You’ll observe and participate in a number of training scenarios and courses and return with a great knowledge of the inner workings of those in the criminal justice field.

The Itinerary
May 5: Depart for Pittsburgh, PA
May 6-9: Mock Prison Riot in Moundsville, WV
May 9: Return to SLC
The Details
The tentative cost of $1,018 includes:
- Airfare
- Lodging
- Local Transportation
- Faculty
The cost does not include any unscheduled travel, and baggage cost.
All participants must be at least 18 years old. This program is open to all WSU students and members of the community; however preference will be given to WSU students. All participants must have no criminal history; a criminal background check is required prior to leaving for the Mock Prison Riot. Students may put themselves at risk should they choose to be tazed or participate in some of the activities. You will be notified of any potential risks.
The Bottom Line
$500 non-refundable deposit due March 1, 2011.
Remaining balance ($899) due no later than April 1, 2012

The Fine Print
If the trip is cancelled, all participants will be refunded in full. Any refunds for withdrawal from the program will be determined by the Study Abroad Director according to the recoverability of incurred costs and fees, and according to Continuing Education Policy. Once the group leaves, all costs are non-refundable in their entirety. Dates and prices may change. It is the responsibility of each participant to be aware of any changes by staying in contact with Study Abroad and the program director.
