Watercolor Techniques

Learn how to watercolor landscapes, abstract and still life paintings with a variety of materials, properties and techniques. You must provide your own materials (see below).

Materials and supplies to bring to class:

  • Watercolors - transparent and/or opaque will be OK. (a Pelican opaque set may be a good choice if buying)
  • A palette - if using tube paints
  • 140 lb. cold press Watercolor Paper: multi sheet pad or a few loose sheets with brown tape and stiff surface to tape to, or a water color block.
  • Good round brushes: sizes 5, 8, 12.
  • Good flat brush 1/4" and 1/2"
  • A pipette
  • Water container with wide mouth (at least a quart)
  • Paper Towels
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
