Description:
The consequences of breaking employment laws can be devastating for organizations. Supervisors must understand and follow the organizational policies and procedures for personnel management, including equal opportunity, diversity management, disabilities, and other situations. Supervisors must also teach and enforce compliance with federal and state laws and organizational policies.
Objectives:
  • Understand government laws and regulations that are a significant component of doing business today
  • Examine ADA and FMLA legislation
  • Identify the roles and significance of agencies that oversee legislative organizational policies
  • Learn about the Utah Anti-discrimination and Labor Division and the US Federal Equal Opportunity Employment Commission (EEOC)
  • Discuss performance-building and disciplining employees and examine privacy-related issues, e.g. drug testing
