Description:
As our workplace becomes a more diverse environment, it is important to understand how to use that diversity to increase productivity. This course examines individual socialization and enables participants to see their own unique diversity and the diversity of others as an asset rather than a liability.
Objectives:
  • Understand the demographic trends which are changing the American work force; including aging, feminization, immigration, and educational deficits
  • Explore the dynamics of individual cultural programming, including the sources of cultural programming, and the interplay between culture and individual personality
  • Understand how organizational diversity management occurs
  • Understand cultural norms in a less ethnocentric manner and be more open-minded when encountering cultural norms different from one’s own
  • Become aware of our own cultural stereotypes and learn to take steps to overcome stereotypical and prejudicial thinking
  • Identify the benefits of an inclusive culture to an organization
  • Develop a multi-faceted diversity management strategy
