Student Consumer Complaints

Students who have a complaint concerning a Weber State University online, distance or independent study (correspondence) program should follow the university’s petition process. For petitions related to registration, including late withdrawal due to non-academic emergency, please visit the Academic Petitions website. For petitions related to tuition and fees, please visit the Student Financial Petition website.

If Weber State University does not resolve the issue, students can file a complaint with the State Portal Entity (SPE) at Utah System of Higher Education (USHE). USHE will only consider complaints that were previously unresolved by the institution and may refer a complaint to another agency for investigation.

Additionally, if students reside outside of Utah and the issue is not resolved by WSU, students can file a complaint with their state’s enforcement authority. Links to complaint forms listed by state can be found here.
Note: students in California should direct their complaints to the California Department of Consumer Affairs. -
If the issue remains unresolved, students who have complaints relating to fraud, false advertising, or other deceptive practices can file a complaint with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection.
Online, Distance or Independent Study (Correspondence) Program Complaints

Students who have complaints related to issues that are covered by the WSU Student Code of Conduct should follow the institution’s process for filing a complaint.

Students who have complaints relating to the college/university’s quality of education or other issues appropriate for its accrediting body to consider, can file a complaint with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
