Optional National Police Officer Selection Test (NPOST)
As of April 1, 2020, the National Police Officer Selection Test (NPOST) is no longer required for acceptance into the academy.
However, some law enforcement agencies may still require the NPOST as part of their hiring processes. If you would like to take the test, review the details below.

NPOST General Information
The NPOST is similar to a high school equivalency exam. It is a timed test that:
- Consists of four sections, including math, reading comprehension, grammar and incident report writing (each section is timed separately)
- Requires a minimum of 70% in each of the four sections to pass (scores do not expire)
Study guides are available for purchase online.
Testing Information/Locations
The NPOST can be taken at any of the approved locations (see below). Call ahead for more information about closures
(due to COVID-19) and to see which days/or specific times the locations offer the exam.
The NPOST fee at WSU's Testing Centers is $45 (fees vary at other locations).
Bring your government or state-issued picture ID with you to the testing location.
